DIOCESAN LAUNCH

To mark the beginning of the World Meeting of Families, every diocese has been asked to host a special celebration in the cathedral on the evening of August 21st. The celebration in the Cathedral in Ballaghaderreen will take place at 8 p.m. on August 21st. It will have as its theme the message of the Venerable Patrick Peyton, 'The family that prays together stays together' and 'A world at prayer is a world at peace.' His message seems particularly relevant in the context of the World Meeting of Families and given that he is a native of our diocese and recently declared 'Venerable', a significant step on the path to canonisation, it seems appropriate to centre our diocesan celebration on the message he brought to Rosary Rallies all across the globe. The celebration will involve families from all the parishes in the diocese.

PRAYER FOR A FAVOUR

God our Father, your wisdom is displayed in all creation and the power of your grace is revealed in the lives of holy people, who inspire us to trust you more fully and to serve others more generously. In a unique way, you blessed the life and work of your Venerable Patrick Peyton, and made him a fervent apostle of Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary and Mother of us all. Through his intercession, we ask for this favour__________ Please grant it, if it is for your honour and glory, through Christ our Lord. Amen
